American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)
Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
This course is designed for those who have successfully completed an Intro to Coding Course, Medical Coding and Billing Course or have a thorough working knowledge as a medical coder but want more hands-on coding practice in preparation for the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam. The course focuses on coding scenarios, test-taking strategies, and includes mock exam questions readying the student for the 150 question CPC Exam required by AAPC to obtain the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification. The AAPC exam itself is offered at a discount for those students who successfully pass the Exam Prep Class.
Students who have completed the NSU Introduction to Medical Billing and Coding class may register upon passing the Intro Class and those who have coding experience may qualify as well. Students must have a working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS Level II coding.
A registered licensed Instructor with AAPC with over 30 years experience in the coding field leads the course.
The course is 10 weeks in length and the AAPC CPC boards are offered at a discount to the students who successfully pass the Exam Prep Class.
Textbooks: Students are responsible for purchasing required textbooks Those who have taken the Introduction to Coding Course may already have their required coding books.
